CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins at an upscale hotel that netted cash, jewels, and guns.
Police say thieves hit 17 vehicles parked outside The Ballantyne early Sunday morning.
One victim, who asked to remain anonymous, showed QCN where the thieves used a window punch tool to try to break into the passenger side of his pickup truck.
"They punched six times and couldn't get through, so they went then to the passenger backside window and were able to shatter that right away," he said.
Fortunately, nothing of any value was in his truck, but some of the other victims weren't as lucky.
Police records show expensive jewelry was stolen, including a $40,000 gold Rolex.
"So many vehicles were hit," the victim said.
