Throughout the summer, the Imperial War Museum (IWM) Duxford hosts air shows featuring historical aircraft from both of the World Wars. Many of these special flying days are based are a historical event from the wars such as VE Day and the Battle of Britain.

This specific flying day is dedicated to the Americans and their involvement in air combat during World War Two. Duxford was a hugely important base for the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) with many American pilots flying from the airfield over the years.
