LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The former Louisville police officer who was convicted of violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights has been sentenced to prison.

On Monday evening, a federal judge sentenced Hankison to two years and nine months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Hankison fired 10 shots into Taylor’s glass door and windows during the raid but didn’t hit anyone. Some shots entered a next-door neighbor’s apartment.
Hankison argued throughout the trial that he was acting to protect his fellow officers after Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired at them when they broke down Taylor’s door with a battering ram. Walker shot and wounded one of the officer
