NEW ORLEANS —

NOPD officers are investigating a crash where a biker was hit and killed by an 18-wheeler. Detectives say this happened at the intersection of St. Claude and Franklin Ave. around 5 p.m.

Police identified the victim as a 65-year-old man. The coroner's office will release the identity of the victim, once family has been notified. Advertisement

Police say the driver of the 18-wheeler stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Officers say the truck driver made a complete stop as he approached Franklin Avenue. At the same time, officers say the bicyclist, veered into the truck's blind spot. Once the driver turned right onto Franklin, the two collided.
