CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (PIX11) -- Three police officers are recovering after they were assaulted while responding to a 911 call in Brooklyn late Friday night, authorities say.

One of the officers was hit in the head with an unknown object while two others were punched in the head and chest while responding to a call of an assault in progress near Surf and Stillwell Avenues around 11:45 p.m., according to police.

Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the assault.
