CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A Heat Advisory is in effect until Wednesday in western Massachusetts, and many communities in the area are opening cooling centers to provide those in need.

The Heat Advisory is in effect for central and eastern Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties from 11 a.m. Monday until 8 p.m. Wednesday. The heat index will make it feel around 100 degrees.

Several locations will be open to anyone who may need a spot to get out of the heat.

Easthampton • Monday, July 28th - Wednesday, July 30th: Council on Aging (COA) 19 Union Street, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM • The Public Safety Complex is available 24/7 to anyone during any weather crisis. • The Nonotuck Spray Park will have extended hours to help residents stay cool. The park will be open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
