PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — To combat the heat, officials in Providence are opening several cooling centers.

In addition to those cooling centers, the city’s pools and splash pads will be open for extended hours.

While they normally close at 5 p.m., residents can now use them until 7 this evening.

Fall River has also opened a temporary cooling center for residents.

It’ll be in the lobby of government center which you can get to by using the entrance on third street.

That center will be open from 9:30 to 3:30 Tuesday and Wednesday.
