CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A shift in the weather is coming just in time for the weekend, but not before Friday brought a heightened risk for flooding across the region.

As a cold front slowly moved through, heavy downpours from slow-moving storms led to flash flooding in some areas .

The flooding risk in the forecast started around 2 p.m. Friday and is expected to last through 10 p.m., as a slow-moving cold front pushes through the Carolinas. The area was under a medium threat for excessive rainfall on Friday morning, and all signs pointed to the potential for heavy rain during the second half of the day.
