CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Two teenagers are facing charges after a 15-year-old boy was killed in late June, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Officials say that on June 26, several people called 911 about a shooting in the 1000 block of Merrick Street near North Tryon Street. Officers got to the apartment complex just before 11:30 p.m. to find a 15-year-old boy shot.
The teen, Avion Amelle Dingle, passed away before he could be taken to a hospital. Police say the apartments were "wantonly" shot into.
According to a police report, a 30-year-old woman and four children between 3 and 14 years old were put at risk but were not injured. It is unclear how many apartments were struck by gunfire.
