LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) - Six female seniors at SFA are in federal court Wednesday, fighting to keep their recently cut sports alive.
The athletes represent the schools volleyball and bowling teams and they were in court for a preliminary injunction hearing. The hearing was one step of a larger lawsuit to save the women’s sports that have been cut by SFA as a cost-cutting measure: beach volleyball, bowling and golf. If granted, an injunction would mean SFA would have to temporarily reinstate the sports until the lawsuit is determined.
