ROCKVILLE, Md. (DC News Now) -- Liatris Inc. celebrated the expansion of its Rockville lab with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Maryland Gov. Wes Moore on July 25.

The advanced materials company received $800,000 from the state’s Build Our Future grant, plus more than $300,000 in additional funding from Montgomery County and the University of Maryland.

The expansion will double the facility’s size to 10,000 square feet and will create 15 new jobs.

Liatris Inc. plans to launch pilot manufacturing of high-performance, non-combustible insulation products, supporting Maryland’s clean energy and economic development goals.

Founded in 2018, the company specializes in thermal insulation technologies that improve building safety, comfort and energy efficiency.
