BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Neighbors gathered on Hancock Street in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, to celebrate the unveiling of a new street sign: "Tyreon W. Cook Way."

Family, friends, neighbors, and NYPD officers came together to honor Officer Tyreon Cook, a devoted family man and a beloved member of the community.

Cook’s son, Charles White, spoke at the event before the sign was revealed.

“He was a really good person, he was a family man, a community person. He really loved his job. He enjoyed being NYPD,” Charles shared, reflecting on his father’s dedication. He explained that his father spent many years serving the city and giving back to the neighborhood before passing away in 2023, right on that very block. “He left the house to go get a car wash, and he made it to the fire hydrant down here
