Through a statement, the bishop of the Diocese of San Cristóbal, Monsignor Lisandro Rivas, announced the sad death of Monsignor Mario del Valle Moronta Rodríguez, bishop emeritus of the Diocese of the capital of Táchira.

Monsignor Moronta dedicated his life to the evangelization of the people of Táchira and constant service to those in need.

The death occurred this morning, August 4, 2025, at 7:35 a.m. in the city of San Cristóbal at the age of 76.
