A Texas man accused of sexually assaulting four women in New Bedford in 2013 was arraigned this week in Fall River Superior Court, Bristol District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III’s office said Friday.

Orlando Robles, 51, who had been imprisoned in Texas for similar sex crimes in that state, was charged with two counts of rape, kidnapping, and multiple other assault and battery charges, prosecutors said in a statement.

Pleas of not guilty were entered on his behalf, online court records show. He was ordered held without bail. He is due back in court on Sept. 9, Quinn’s office said.

Robles, a former Dartmouth resident, had previously served a lengthy prison sentence in Texas, according to prosecutors.
