RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – A traffic alert for those driving along Interstate 440 for their commute on Wednesday morning.

The ramp from I-440 onto Lake Boone Trail was blocked for nearly 30 minutes after a box truck caught on fire, according to Raleigh police.

Firefighters are currently on scene, while police are working to divert traffic in the area.

NCDOT cameras show traffic backed up for miles as a result of the incident.

Police said the truck broke out into flames just before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday. At this time, investigators don’t believe the cause of the fire was due to a crash.

There’s no word yet on any reported injuries.
