A man who fatally shot a 16-year-old girl at a dance hall in Lynn in 1994 has been granted parole from his life sentence, records show.
The state Parole Board granted release to Alfred Jenks, who was 20 when he shot Urzula Nonon, a bystander to a violent altercation at the club, according to a July 30 ruling.
Jenks, now 51, was convicted in 1996 of first-degree murder in the slaying, which carries a mandatory life term without the possibility of parole.
But he became eligible for parole after a ruling last year from the state Supreme Judicial Court that found life sentences without a chance at parole for people ages 18 to 20 when they committed their crimes were unconstitutional.
