LOWVILLE, N.Y. (WWTI) - A 33-year-old Harrisville man has been charged with allegedly using an alias on social media.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office announced that Joseph Clement II was charged with violating the state's sex offender registry, second offense. This is a felony charge.

Authorities said that Clement allegedly used a Facebook profile under an alias that was not listed on the registry.

Clement has been convicted of doing the same the previously, according to officials.

He was arraigned in the Lewis County Court with bail set at $10,000.

Clement was convicted in 2014 on a second-degree rape charge according to the New York State Sex Offender Registry. The victim was a 12-year-old girl and he was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison.
