HAMMOND — A former basketball coach at Calumet College of St. Joseph filed a lawsuit against the college that alleges racial discrimination and retaliation during his employment, according to a document filed Thursday in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Indiana.

Marcus Jefferson is suing for racial discrimination, retaliation, intentional infliction of emotional distress, constructive discharge and negligent supervision or retention, the legal complaint shows. Jefferson supposedly faced treatment different from that of his white colleagues, including a lack of budget access and transparency, delayed expenditure approvals, denial of permission to travel out-of-state for tournaments and exclusion from fundraising opportunities.
