JASPER COUNTY — A 54-year-old Gary man was badly injured Thursday night after reportedly failing to stop at an intersection on his motorcycle and colliding with another vehicle, according to Jasper County police.
Police said they responded shortly before 7 p.m. to the crash site at the intersection of Ind. 10 and U.S. 231.
Officers learned the operator of the 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle was travelling westbound at a high rate of speed, failed to stop at the intersection and collided with a 2013 Toyota Highlander that was stopped facing westbound.
The Gary man was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained severe injuries, police said. Others at the scene were conducting life saving measures to the biker, who was taken to the hospital and is in unknown condition.
