BURTONSVILLE, Md. — A head-on collision in Burtonsville early Wednesday morning has left one man dead and another hurt. Investigators are still working to learn what led up to the crash.

Dave Pazos, a spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, says the crash was first reported around 3:30 a.m. When first responders got to the scene at the 4500 block of Sand Spring Road, they found two vehicles had collided head-on. Both drivers were trapped in their cars.

Fire crews were able to pull both men from the wreckage, but one man was pronounced dead at the scene. That man has not been identified by first responders.

Pazos said the other man was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries, but the severity of his injuries is not known.
