DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Emergency crews are working to clear a massive crash Wednesday morning on Interstate 40 East in Durham County.
According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the crash occurred around 4 a.m. at I-40 near Davis Drive.
When CBS 17 arrived at the scene, a tractor-trailer was in a jack-knife position and in a ditch on the side of the highway.
Hours later, around 8:30 a.m., the NCDOT sent out another alert that multiple lanes were closed on I-40 East while crews worked to remove the tractor-trailer from the ditch.
CBS 17 is working to find out the circumstances of this crash. Both the Durham County Sheriff's Office and N.C. State Highway Patrol has been contacted.
