DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Durham police are reporting an overall decline in crime across the city so far this year.
The new second quarter crime report shows violent crime down nearly 20%, while property crimes are down about 4%. But there’s one area that’s now seeing an increase.
Juvenile crime is up more than 20% according to the crime report. From January through June of 2024, there were 289 offenses compared to 350 this year.
Wendell Tabb, a school board member and retired educator with Durham Public Schools, created a play at Hillside High School to raise awareness about social justice issues and gun violence.
