DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A teenager was arrested in a Durham County shooting earlier this year that seriously wounded a juvenile, deputies said Tuesday.
According to the Durham County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened on May 28 just after 9 p.m. in the 2900 block of Ellis Road.
An investigation determined a dispute on social media led to a group going to a home on the street. 19-year-old Jose Manuel Cantera Ortiz, a resident of the home, is accused of shooting in the group, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies said the juvenile was found at a park nearby. He was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Ortiz is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and altering/stealing/destroying criminal evidence, according to the sheriff's office.
