Federal investigators are looking into a plane crash that happened Tuesday evening at Willow Airport.

Alaska Wildlife Troopers responded to the scene shortly after 5 p.m., where a single-engine Aronca Champ crashed on the runway.

The pilot, who was the only person on board, was seriously injured in the crash. Authorities say the injuries are significant, but the pilot is expected to survive.

The National Transportation Safety Board is now leading the investigation to determine what caused the crash.
