BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Nationwide, animal shelters are overcrowded. Furry Friends Rockin Rescue is home to hundreds of dogs and cats, as well as other animals in need. Some were surrendered to the shelter, and others were found feral on the street. All the animals need care, but some even more than others.
Julie Schirado is a board member and volunteer with Furry Friends Rockin’ Rescue. She has a full-time job in addition to her role at the shelter, and said this economy has been tough on her.
“With people unsure about where our economy is going, it makes it tougher with animals and to bring them into the house and to feed them, price of groceries has gone up, the price of dog and cat food has gone up. The cost of bedding your animals has gone up. So it makes it tougher on everybody,” s
