MACON COUNTY, N.C. —
A case of tuberculosis (TB) has been confirmed in Macon County, North Carolina.
On Wednesday, Macon County Public Health in coordination with the North Carolina Department of Public Health and Human Services announced they are conducting an investigation following the confirmation of a case of TB.
Officials said the investigation involves an individual who spent time in the county during their infectious period.
After the diagnosis, officials immediately took steps to protect the health and safety of the public, including isolation and treatment of the individual.
As part of standard public health protocol, a detailed contact investigation is underway to identify people who may have been exposed to TB. Anyone identified as a close contact will be notified directly
