OTTUMWA, Iowa (KYOU) - Community members were ready to talk about a proclamation honoring traditional marriage at Tuesday night’s city council meeting.
The discussion came two months after the council approved a Pride Month proclamation.
“I would ask the mayor to please show me where I’m seeing inclusion of any traditional marriage or heterosexual language in the previous pride proclamation,” said one resident “Of course there was not.”
The city was set to discuss a resolution that would establish policy and procedures for requesting proclamations. But the city decided to table that discussion after roughly a dozen people demanded a ‘traditional marriage’ proclamation.
