Residents along Hwy. 24 in North Dumfries are happy the ministry of transportation is considering ways to address their traffic and safety concerns but don’t think larger speed limit signs and wildlife warnings are enough.
“An additional north-south road is the only solution to our volume issue,” said Curt Martin, who lives in one of the more than 60 homes along the two-lane “funnel” between Brant County and Cambridge where ongoing noise and safety concerns have plagued residents for years, more so since the region created McQueen Shaver Boulevard, known to many as the south Cambridge drag strip, with the high-speed mentality of drivers often carrying over to the settlement area along the highway, residents say.
