LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - New JCPS Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood said that every bus route will be covered for the district on the first day of school in a letter sent to staff Tuesday.

In the letter, Yearwood said the district currently has 609 bus drivers, “with several more in the pipeline that will be hired” on top of that. He also said that he and Chief Operations Officer Dr. Rob Fulk visited several schools to “gain a deeper understanding of the physical learning environments” and assess the conditions of the facilities.

Yearwood also said he’ll be hosting a series of public forums throughout the summer and into the start of the school year. The tentative dates, times and locations are:

Tuesday, Aug. 12 at Valley High School, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 16 at Male High Sch
