APEX, N.C. (WNCN) — After heavy rain and flooding caused damage, crashes and outages throughout the Triangle, a massive sinkhole formed in Apex that closed a major connecting road.

Olive Chapel Road is being assessed by crews from the North Carolina Department of Transportation and the Town of Apex while it is closed due to the damage.

According to the NC DOT, it could take until November 26 to finish repairs.

Until then, Olive Chapel Road is closed between Ashley Downs Drive and Patterson Grove Road.

One DOT official told CBS 17 at the flooded road that it was reported around noon.

A neighbor said off-camera that when she called 911 on Wednesday, emergency responders were there in minutes.
