LAKEVIEW — A neighborhood greenway is coming to Grace Street in Lakeview, creating a low-stress bike and pedestrian route between the Chicago River and Lake Michigan.

The project, led by the Chicago Department of Transportation, would run nearly 3 miles on Grace Street from Campbell Avenue to North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, linking the 312 RiverRun and Lakefront Trail.

The Grace Street Neighborhood Greenway is designed to create a safer, calmer environment for people biking, walking and driving, according to a fact sheet from CDOT.

The speed limit on Grace Street will also be reduced to 20 mph.

“With Grace Street specifically, there are natural questions about how it might function during busy times — like school pickup and drop-off near Blaine, or on game days at Wrigley Field,” Ald.
