JACKSON COUNTY, MI – Eastbound I-94 at Elm Road in Jackson County is closed once again due to a crash identical to one that closed the area for six hours yesterday .

The crash was reported at 9:02 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, on eastbound I-94 between Elm Road and the off ramp to southbound U.S. 127, according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

Two semitrailers crashed into each other in a lane shift in a construction area on the freeway, Blackman-Leoni Public Safety Director Darin McIntosh said.

One of the semitrailers’ fuel tanks ruptured in the crash and is leaking a significant amount of fuel that requires environmental clean up. The cleanup effort is expected to take several hours, McIntosh said.
