GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - The Wisconsin Humane Society is looking for individuals and families who will take a pet into their home temporarily, especially cats and kittens.

The Humane Society says campuses in Green Bay and Milwaukee have seen an “unprecedented intake” in recent days, especially surrendered cats, including 100 on Tuesday alone. Of the 1,500 animals being cared for at WHS locations, nearly 1,100 are cats or kittens.

The foster program alleviates overcrowding in shelters and gives the animals a break from the noise and lets them socialize with people in a home environment.

“As novel as it is to have cats in office spaces, these kitties would greatly appreciate a vacation in your spare room or even bathroom,” the Humane Society’s Angela Speed said.
