A 25-year-old Guelph man who told police there was a “live shooter” in his apartment building to get a quicker response has landed in more hot water.
The false claim was made in January, police said, after he called police saying he had been assaulted. He called back 10 minutes later, upset police had not arrived, and then 16 minutes after that.
On his last call, police said, he said there was a live shooter in the building, as he was told officers were only responding to high-priority calls.
Police did come quickly after the call, but said the man admitted he made it up so they would get there faster. His claim of being assaulted was unsubstantiated, police said, and he was warned about making false claims.
The man called the police again on July 6 to report a possible impaired driver
