St. Paul police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened overnight in the Midway neighborhood.

According to St. Paul PD, officers responded shortly after midnight Thursday to a shooting in the 1500 block of University Avenue West outside of the Midway Saloon. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to the chest, who later died at the hospital.

Police arrested a suspect at the scene. He is currently being held at the Ramsey County Jail.

No further details were released.

St. Paul PD is investigating the shooting. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the victim at a later date.

Police say this is the seventh homicide of 2025 in St. Paul.
