TOMPKINSVILLE, Ky. – The Tompkinsville Police Department is expressing concern about what it says is a new drug for the local area.
Tompkinsville police say a search at a home was conducted on Wednesday regarding the reported presence of dimethyltryptamine, or DMT.
This resulted in the discovery of seven glass jars of suspected DMT, as well as mushrooms and a several controlled substance pain medications, authorities say.
According to police, DMT can be consumed in multiple ways, such as vapes, crystals burned with fumes in a pipe or orally ingested. Authorities say the onset of DMY effects are rapid but can resolve within 30 to 45 minutes.
