LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) -- Two semi-trucks crashed near an MDOT construction site on I-94, according to the Blackman-Leoni Department of Public Safety.

The crash happened on eastbound I-94, between the Cooper St. and Elm Ave. exits. Police say the eastbound lanes are currently shut down, and the public is encouraged to prepare for delays and, if possible, seek alternative routes.

Police say this is the second crash two days at this location, where MDOT has implemented a lane shift due to ongoing construction work.

They also say congestion due to the lane shift could have contributed to the crashes, and that police, MDOT, and the Jackson County Emergency Management office are re-evaluating the current lane shift.
