DODGE COUNTY, Neb. —
A mosquito pool in Dodge County has tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Three Rivers Public Health Department.
Officials said it is the second mosquito pool that has tested positive for West Nile virus in the Three Rivers Public Health Department area this summer.
Mosquito surveillance detected the positive pool, the Three Rivers Public Health Department said.
'Probably see a lot more:'
Since there is no vaccine or specific medicine to treat West Nile virus, officials said it is important for Nebraskans to take preventive steps to reduce their risk of mosquito-borne illness.
Use a repellent that contains DEET, picaridin, lemon eucalyptus oil, or IR3535.
Wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants, shoes, and socks when outside.
