A St. Lucie County man is behind bars after authorities say he brutally abused a dog, assaulted a woman, and committed child abuse.

The suspect, identified as 59-year-old Delfino Rosales, of Fort Pierce, was arrested after deputies responded to a disturbance on Tuesday night at his home near the 3000 block of U.S. Highway 1. According to Sheriff Richard Del Toro, Rosales hit the dog because it only responded to Spanish commands instead of English commands.
