CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Deputies say a New Bern man has been charged after getting a report of a child being sexually assaulted.

The Craven County Sheriff’s Office says it got the report July 30.

An investigation identified 18-year-old Jamiaz Perkins-Coats as the suspect. A warrant was issued after deputies consulted with the district attorney’s office.

Warrants say the victim was under the age of 16.

He was taken into custody yesterday and charged with indecent liberties with a minor.

Perkins-Coats is being held in the Craven County Confinement Facility.
