KINSTON, N.C. (WITN) - Kinston police are justifying their use of force following an arrest that went viral on social media last month.

The City of Kinston today sent out a report from the police department on its investigation into the use of force and arrest of 18-year-old Cameron Williams on July 13th. In a video that went viral on social media, the officer can be seen punching the person he’s on top of.

The internal investigation was conducted by Chief Keith Goyette, KPD’s Internal Affairs Division, and was submitted for external expert review.
