About 175 Greensboro Qorvo employees — representing about 12.5% of its local workforce — are being affected by the planned closing of its local wafer fabrication plant, the chip manufacturer confirmed Thursday.
Qorvo chief executive Bob Bruggeworth disclosed the Greensboro plant closing decision during a July 29 first-quarter 2026 call with analysts.
"Employees directly affected by this decision have been informed and we are committed to supporting them through this transition," Qorvo said in a statement Thursday. "Several will be filling other open roles on Qorvo’s Global Operations team in the next year or so.”
Qorvo did not provide a current Greensboro workforce count. As recently as October, Qorvo had about 1,400 local employees, though not all of them are at the plant.
