LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Seven people were arrested Thursday for copper wire thefts that have happened across Jefferson County.

Mayor Craig Greenberg said a coordinated investigation by the Critical Infrastructure Task Force, Metro Alcoholic Beverage Control and Louisville Metro Police's detectives and Technology Operations unit started after a tip from a local scrap yard.

According to the tip, individuals were selling "suspicious burnt wire consistent with communications infrastructure used by AT&T and other service providers." The wire was later confirmed to be part of Louisville's network.
