It's officially too hot.

A potentially dangerous heat wave is set to continue through Friday, with the National Weather Service's Albuquerque office forecasting temperatures throughout the state approaching or exceeding 100 degrees.

Amid the hot weather, the state Department of Health on Thursday issued an advisory encouraging residents to take steps to protect themselves against heat-related illness, including remaining indoors when possible, remaining hydrated and planning outdoor activities during cooler times of day.

"Vulnerable populations, including children, adults over 65 years of age, outdoor workers, and those with chronic health conditions are at greatest risk," department Environmental Health Epidemiology Bureau Chief Chelsea Eastman Langer said Thursday in a news release.
