SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Briar Cliff in Sioux City says it is getting a new five-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education.

The “Student Support Services” grant could be worth nearly $2,000,00. Funding for the first year of the grant is $346,845 and could be used to launch a program geared towards supporting Briar Cliff’s underserved students.

The grant is a part of the Federal TRIO programs, which will support 200 students each year.

TRIO programs are designed to provide services to first-generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds and students who have disabilities.

This will provide services like personalized academic advising, tutoring, counseling, financial literacy support and grad school preparation.
