PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A man was sent to the hospital after a shooting incident near West Moss Avenue and North Douglas Street in Peoria on Thursday.

The Peoria Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 4:16 p.m., police spokesperson Semone Roth said.

When officers arrived, they located a man with an apparent gunshot wound to the leg. The man was taken to a local hospital with a serious injury.

The incident remains under investigation.
