The New Orleans City Council is calling for a traffic study for the St. Claude Corridor after recent deadly accidents.

The city council unanimously passed an ordinance calling for the Department of Transportation and Development to conduct a traffic study and make suggestions on how to address safety concerns. Advertisement

This comes after several deadly crashes and hit-and-runs along the busy street in recent months.

The traffic study assessment would make suggestions on how to identify, fund, and implement measures that would protect people traveling in the area. The council also asked for suggestions to make bike lanes safer along that stretch.
