ASHLAND, Wis. (Northern News Now) - The Ashland Fire Department rescued two people Thursday in Chequamegon Bay, with the help of the community.

According to the Ashland Fire Department, two people had to be rescued after they became stuck on their boat about 400 yards from shore.

Bystanders let emergency responders use their kayaks to help bring in one of the stranded people to shore.

Other people came over from the marina and gave two firefighters a ride out on their boat to rescue the other person.

Both are uninjured and were able to go home.

Northern News Now is still working to learn how they became stranded out on the water.
