AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Much of the work at South Carolina’s Savannah River National Laboratory has been top secret – like making components for nuclear bombs during the Cold War.

But the lab’s director says a brand new facility gives the lab an open door to the community.

On the campus of the University of South Carolina Aiken, the new Advanced Manufacturing Collaborative is now open.

The ribbon-cutting was Thursday, drawing such dignitaries as U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, Sen. Lindsey Graham and Rep. Joe Wilson.
