FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Two baby raccoons spotted wandering around without their mother were given a new lease on life earlier this week.
In a social media post shared Thursday, the Fall River Police Department explained that the raccoons were first spotted Tuesday morning by detectives during "Operation Clear Path."
"Based on their size, they appear to be just over a month old and should still be under the constant care of their mother," the police department wrote.
Police said detectives spotted the raccoons again Wednesday night as they were attempting to cross Brayton Avenue while clinging to one another.
"It became clear they had been orphaned," the police department continued.
